Thom Hart was promoted to assistant creative director for HLA Marketing Communications, Tampa. Hart was art director.

CONSULTING

Protiviti Inc., Tampa, announced these promotions: Katy Thompson, to director of the internal audit department; and Kristin Allen and JoAnne Clark, to managers in the internal audit department. Thompson was an associate director; Allen and Clark were senior consultants.

FINANCIAL

Regions Bank, Tampa, announced these appointments: Lawrence Clendenin has been named vice president of commercial lending; and Gwynn Davey has been named vice president of commercial banking. Clendenin was a portfolio specialist for SouthTrust Bank, Tampa; Davey was vice president of Bay Cities Bank, Tampa.

Steve Kriegbaum was named a mortgage consultant for HomeBanc Mortgage Corp., Tampa. Kriegbaum was a mortgage consultant for Excel Mortgage Network in South Tampa.

Peggy Patides has been named production manager of the wholesale office of Irwin Mortgage Corp., Clearwater. Patides was president of AmeriFinancial Mortgage, Largo.

HEALTH CARE

Dr. Pete Dawson is the recipient of the Florida Dental Association's Lifetime Service Award. Dawson is the founder and director of the Dawson Center for Advanced Dental Study, St. Petersburg.

Edward Martinez was named vice president, information technology/chief information officer of H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute, Tampa. Martinez was vice president and chief information officer for Northshore-LIJ Health System in New York.

LEGAL

Richard C. McCrea Jr. was inducted into the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers. McCrea is a partner at the Tampa law firm of Zinober & McCrea, where he practices labor and employement law.

ORGANIZATIONS

Robert M. Eschenfelder has been elected chairman of the St. Petersburg Planning and Historic Preservation Commission. Eschenfelder is an employment law attorney for Manatee County.

Dr. Philip L. Shettle was named president-elect of the American Osteopathic Association. Shettle is a osteopathic ophthalmologist who has a private practice, Shettle Eye Care in Largo, and is on staff at Sun Coast Osteopathic Hospital, Largo, and Belleair Surgi-Center, Clearwater.

The Pinellas Park Unit of the American Cancer Society has elected officers for 2004-05: Cheri Elliott, chairwoman; Mike Bruni, vice chairman; Denise McDowell, secretary; Jacquline "Jacquie" Kee, treasurer; and Dr. Kenneth Bryant, medical adviser. RECRUITMENT

Gerard Alexander of Ybor Square, Tampa, announced these promotions: Chad Stec, to managing director; Alberto Roldan, to account director; Joey Verdecchia and Dyan Lesniczak, to senior recruiting consultants; and Rosilee Crimi, to administrative manager. RESTAURANTS

Gary Lieberthal was elected to the board of directors of Checkers Drive-In Restaurants, Tampa. Lieberthal is retired as chairman and chief executive of Columbia Pictures Television.

TECHNOLOGY

Paul Kolanko was named a senior project manager at Innovative Computer Environments, Tampa. Kolanko was a project manager at General Dynamics at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station.
