TAMPA - The man police suspect of slashing his girlfriend's throat during an argument April 14 has been arrested in Oklahoma City, Okla., according to the Tampa Police Department.

Police say Roy L. Anderson, 40, was arrested on a warrant at a Salvation Army shelter after police received a tip he was staying there. The U.S. Marshals Service went to the shelter, where marshals found Anderson's belongings, said police spokesman Larry McKinnon. They arrested him when he returned about 6 p.m. He's being held without bail in Oklahoma.

McKinnon said authorities will now begin the extradition process.

The victim, Ledys Ramirez, was "extremely relieved" to hear of his arrest, McKinnon said.

Anderson faces charges of attempted murder, aggravated battery and depriving a person of 911 communications, police say.

Police say Anderson and Ramirez were arguing, when Anderson confessed to being attracted to his girlfriend's 14-year-old daughter. Ramirez told him the relationship was over. Police say Anderson picked up a knife and slashed her throat. She was taken to Tampa General Hospital.
