Mud, water bury Dominican Republic
Rescue workers pulled more bodies Friday from the mud, water, and rubble left behind by Hurricane Georges, bringing to more than 300 the number of people killed throughout the Caribbean.

Iran flexes muscle for Taleban to see
TEHRAN, Iran -- Iran culminated two weeks of saber-rattling against Afghanistan's ruling Taleban militia with a display of its military prowess Friday, a three-hour parade of troops and weapons that included the public debut of a new Iranian missile that can strike at enemies 1,000 miles away.
