1998 storm namesThese are the names for 1998 hurricanes and tropical storms:
The National Hurricane Center has six lists of names for Atlantic and Caribbean storms. Each has 21 names. After all the sets have been used, they're repeated. The names of major hurricanes, such as Hugo and Andrew, are retired. The letters Q, U, X, Y and Z are not used because of scarcity of names beginning with those letters.
